Woman Killed, Three Children Injured In Crash on I-840: Reports

Police closed the highway early Thursday for several hours to investigate the wreck.

NASHVILLE, TN — A woman was killed and her three children were taken to a hospital after an accident early Thursday on Interstate 840 in Williamson County, according to media reports. The wreck occurred in the eastbound lanes of I-840 at mile marker 45, between the exits for Horton Highway and Almaville Road, WSMV-TV News 4 reported.

The accident took place at about 2 a.m., and the westbound lanes of I-840 were closed for several hours as a response team from the Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated the wreck. Officials said the unidentified woman's SUV left an eastbound lane, rolled over and went into an embankment, News 4 reported. The woman was ejected from the vehicle and landed in the westbound lanes of I-840, where she was hit by a tractor-trailer.

The woman died at the scene, News 4 reported. Her three children have non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
