Bellevue Apartment Fire Leaves 2 Families Homeless

No one was injured in an overnight fire at Bellevue's Hillemeade Apartments, but there is heavy damage.

BELLEVUE, TN — Two families were forced out of their Bellevue apartments after a fire overnight Sunday. No one was injured in the blaze, but Nashville Fire crews say the buildings sustained "heavy damage."

The first hint of the fire came around 10 p.m. Sunday night, when a couple living on the bottom floor at Hillmeade Apartments smelled smoke but saw no flames. They woke up again about three hours later to the smell of smoke but, this time, flames were obvious. They woke their neighbors and called 911.

Two floors of the complex were evacuated as Nashville Fire crews battled the blaze, eventually cutting a whole in the roof to let out the smoke. Early indications are that the fire was likely electrical.
