Bellevue Carjacker Shifts Gears When He Realizes He Can't Drive A Manual
Police are looking for a group involved in a Bellevue carjacking, which was abandoned when the suspect found he couldn't operate the car.

BELLEVUE, TN — An attempted carjacking went sideways for the perpetrator when he found himself flummoxed by the car's manual transmission. Police, however, are on the hunt for the would-be thief and his associates.
Around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, a man was walking to his car in the parking lot of the Bellevue Plaza at the intersection of Highway 70 and Old Hickory Boulevard when, according to police, he was approached by a group of five to seven men who complimented him on his car. Once he was seated and buckled, one of those men tapped on his window with what the victim said was an Uzi. The driver ran off to call 911 and the Uzi-bearer climbed into the car, only to find out it had a stick shift, which he was apparently incapable of operating.
The carjacker, perhaps embarrassed, fled on foot. No one was hurt. Police are working to identify the suspect and determine if his friends were part of the carjacking attempt.
