Investigation Of Fatal Fire At Antebellum Green Hills Home Continues
A 63-year-old man was killed in the fire that destroyed a Battery Lane home built before the Civil War.

NASHVILLE, TN — Nashville Fire Department investigators are still working to determine what caused the massive and fatal house fire on Battery Lane that killed a 63-year-old man and destroyed an antebellum log home early Sunday morning.
Mike Beazley, 63, was unable to escape the house at 1040 Battery Lane when it burst into flames in the wee hours of Sunday. His sister, with whom he shared the house, was able to escape. A considerable portion of the home, which dates to before the Civil War, was made of logs.

By the time crews arrived, the fire was too hot and too involved for firefighters to make a safe entry. Beazley's body was located with the aid of dogs around 8:30 Sunday morning. There was so much debris, Metro Public Works and the Office of Emergency Management were called to the scene to assist with clean-up.
