Oak Hill House Fire Kills Pets, Shuts Down Battery Lane

Battery Lane was closed as crews battled a fire and processed the scene Thursday morning.

OAK HILL, TN — Two people were able to escape an early morning house fire on Battery Lane Thursday morning, but the blaze did kill a handful of pets. As fire crews fought the fire and processed the scene, a large portion of Battery Lane was closed.

The fire in the 900 block of Battery Lane began around 5:30 Thursday morning. A man and woman were able to escape. The man was taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation, but is expected to recover. The house was also home to at least 14 pets: 10 dogs, a cat and three birds. The cat, two birds and one of the dogs died in the fire, which was contained to a front living room. Three of the dogs are still missing.

Fire officials are investigating the cause.
