Police: Drunk Driver Travels Wrong Way for 10 Miles On I-40

A woman was arrested on Interstate 40 near Bellevue after driving west in the eastbound lanes from White Bridge to McCrory Lane.

BELLEVUE, TN — Metro Police arrested a woman early Wednesday after she drove at least 10 miles the wrong way on Interstate 40.

Around 2 a.m., several 911 calls were made reporting a car traveling west in the eastbound lanes of the interstate near its intersection with White Bridge Road. Metro Police shut down the interstate at McCrory Lane, more than 10 miles away, and laid down spike strips. The woman stopped after hitting the strips and was arrested and given a field sobriety test.

Remarkably, no one was hurt and nothing — other than the woman's tires, presumably — was damaged.
