Police Look For Connection in Shooting, Car Chase
Hillsboro Village-area residents were without power after a fleeing car hit a utility pole.

NASHVILLE, TN — Metro Police are investigating whether a shooting at J.C. Napier Homes is connected to a car chase that ended in Hillsboro Village.
Just before 11 p.m., two people were shot near Lafayette Street and Claiborne Street in the public-housing project. Both victims were hit in the leg and both are recovering in stable condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
About three hours later, an officer on Fairfield Avenue spotted a Toyota matching the description of the car involved in the shooting. The officer attempted a traffic stop, but the driver, with two passengers aboard, fled the scene and headed for Interstate 440.

The car exited at 21st Avenue, striking a utility pole, crashing through a wall and ending up in the parking lot of the Villager Condominiums. Three men exited the car and tried to flee on foot. One was taken into custody but two others, both wearing all-black clothing, escaped into the darkness of the wee hours.
The crash closed traffic on 21st until about 5 a.m., though the 440 ramp remained closed while utility workers repaired the pole. The crash knocked out power to about 250 people in the Hillsboro Village area.
