Running On Empty: West Nashville Police Chase Ends When Suspects Run Out of Gas

Metro Police arrested four people in West Nashville on auto theft charges after they ran out of gas.

NASHVILLE, TN — A quartet of would-be auto thieves forgot to check the fuel gauge of the SUV they boosted, according to Metro Police.

Officers initially tried to stop the car near Sylvan Park, but the driver fled and the officers learned the vehicle had been reported stolen.

The chase lasted less than a mile, as the SUV ran out of fuel between Briley Parkway and Charlotte Pike. A man, a woman and two juveniles were arrested. They have not been identified.
