Train Drags Car 300 Yards In Bellevue

The driver of a car hit by a train at an unarmed Bellevue railroad crossing was injured but is expected to be OK.

BELLEVUE, TN — A car was hit by a train and dragged 300 yards early Monday morning in Bellevue, but amazingly, the driver is expected to be OK.

Shortly after 1:30 Monday morning, a CSX engine struck a car coming through the unarmed crossing at McCrory Lane and Highway 70. Though the crossing is not equipped with arms, it does have flashing lights and bells, which were activated.

Surveillance footage from nearby Eddie's gas station obtained by News 2 seems to indicate the car did not slow despite the approaching train.

The driver, who was not identified, was injured but is expected to be fine. CSX officials are investigating.
