West End Woman Wakes Up To See Man Standing In Bedroom: Police

A 66-year-old man is charged with aggravated burglary after allegedly breaking into a Hayes Street apartment.

NASHVILLE, TN — A woman awoke to a startling sight in her West End apartment late Friday, according to Metro Police.

The woman told police she spotted a man with a grey beard looking into her bedroom at the Lee Apartments on Hayes Street. She said he grabbed her purse and tried to flee through the front door, but couldn't get out so he returned to the window where he apparently made entry and ran into the night.

Police found fingerprints on the window and then saw James Thompson, 66, walking nearby. Thompson denied being in the apartment, but both the victim and her roommate identified him. The victim's purse was found stashed behind a nearby trash bin.
