• Woman Arrested Following Reported Domestic Assault (lewisherald.com) — A recent domestic disturbance at a Hohenwald residence led deputies to arrest a 59-year-old woman on a domestic assault charge after they observed visible injuries and learned of alleged threats and weapons in the home. The reported incident began with an argument over a laptop and escalated into a physical altercation. Authorities emphasized that all charges remain allegations and the woman is presumed innocent.

• 2nd elephant dies in less than a month at Tennessee sanctuary. Here's what we know (wsmv.com) — Hohenwald’s Elephant Sanctuary is mourning the loss of Billie, a 64-year-old Asian elephant euthanized July 20 after a progressive decline from advanced musculoskeletal disease. Billie had spent two decades at the sanctuary after years in circuses and isolation. Her death comes just weeks after another elephant, Sissy, died from advanced osteoarthritis.
