City Of Knoxville - Blog: TBI Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting At Sevier Avenue Home
The subject reportedly pointed the gun at officers and an exchange of gunfire followed.

At around 11:40 a.m. on Tuesday, October 12, members of the Knoxville Police Department Special Operations Squad were serving a search warrant at a house at 2962 Sevier Avenue. Upon their arrival at the house, officers encountered an armed male subject. The subject reportedly pointed the gun at officers and an exchange of gunfire followed. The male suspect was struck at least one time. Officers attempted to render aid on the suspect, but those efforts were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were struck by gunfire or injured in the incident.

At the request of Knox County District Attorney General Charme Allen and per department policy, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation will lead the investigation into the shooting. Updates regarding that investigation will be provided by the TBI.
