August 20, 2021
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Unit was attempting to serve a warrant on an individual near Ball Camp Pike and Schaad Road just after 11am. The suspect has barricaded himself inside a church that is currently under construction. KCSO’s Crisis negotiations unit has been called to the scene. The suspect is believed to be armed at this time according to Assistant Chief Wes Norris. Additionally, out of precaution Amherst Elementary has been placed on lockdown. We are asking that the public avoid the area. I will advise of a media staging area once I am on scene.
