Employee Steals 4,000 Chairs from La Vergne Warehouse: Police

A La Vergne warehouse employee stole thousands of office chairs and attempted to sell them online, according to police.

LA VERGNE, TN — Have a seat. In fact, have 4,000.

Metro Police say 28-year-old Michael Silver stole more than 4,000 office chairs from the La Vergne warehouse of My Office Products some time in the last six months. Silver was an employee of the company.

The owner of the company suspected an employee because there was no forced entry into the area where the purloined chairs were stored. An online search revealed similar office chairs being offered for sale online at Craigslist and other sites. Employees of the company arranged a sting, offering to buy the chairs.

The seller of those chairs, however, said he had bought them from Silver who, in fact, delivered them in a company box truck.

Silver was charged with burglary and theft of property and is being held on a $35,000 bond.
