How La Vergne & Smyrna Voted For President
Sam Ridley Parkway divides Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

MURFREESBORO, TN — North of Sam Ridley Parkway, things were blue, and south, the map was red, as northern Rutherford County's twin cities divided on political lines.
While Donald Trump won Rutherford County as a whole Tuesday — Hillary Clinton won only three Tennessee counties: Nashville's Davidson, Memphis' Shelby and Haywood County in the southwest part of the state — he did so without winning much in La Vergne.
Only one of La Vergne's three precincts — the largest, Rock Springs Elementary — voted for the Republican nominee, but his 400-vote margin there was not enough to overcome big Clinton wins at Lake Elementary, where she won by nearly 750 votes, and at La Vergne Middle where she had a 250-vote majority.

At La Vergne High School, which has voters from both cities, Clinton edged Trump by 20 votes, her only win for Smyrna, if it can even be counted as such. Otherwise, Trump handily won Smyrna's boxes with solid majorities in the mid-50s to the low 60s at LifePoint Church and Old Jefferson.
