Indicted Rutherford County Sheriff Meets With Feds

Sheriff Robert Arnold is back at the federal courthouse just days after sheriff's deputies were reportedly at his home.

NASHVILLE, TN β€” Rutherford County Sheriff Robert Arnold was back at the federal courthouse in Nashville Wednesday, meeting with government officials regarding his on-going pre-trial release.

The meeting is not terribly unusual. While awaiting trial on 19 counts of fraud and conspiracy charges related to his involvement in an e-cigarette business that sold vapes to inmates in his jail, Arnold has been on release and is required to meet with federal officials who supervise his release every month.

This particular meeting, however, is interesting in that, as WTVF reports, two sheriff's deputy squad cars were at Arnold's home in Murfreesboro Monday night.

There is no police report of the incident, but the TV station says, the feds sought to learn if something happened that violated the terms of Arnold's release, which could result in revocation of his release and spending the time between now and his February court date in jail.

Neither Arnold, nor his chief deputy, the also-indicted Joe Russell β€” who left the courthouse just as Arnold arrived β€” answered questions.
