Online auction of court forfeitures and library books runs through August 25

There's one in every family.

The person whose wish list consists of just two items: "15 boxes of reference books or a two-decades-old Dodge Stratus that may or may not have a working odometer."

Thankfully, the City of La Vergne can help fulfill the wishes of that highly-specific loved one.

For the next two weeks, the city is auctioning off five automobiles, 72 boxes of books, three boxes of "assorted magazines," a box of audio books and a box of CDs.

None of the five vehicles - a 2001 Nissan Frontier, a 2002 Ford Mustang, a 2002 Hyundai Sonata, a 2003 Mitsubishi Montero, and a 1996 Dodge Stratus - are titled. All of the cars require a jump to get started and at best, the tire condition on the cars is "low."

On the other hand, the opening bid for each of the cars is $100 (all have undisclosed reserve prices, however), .

The library items are being sold as eight lots, to wit:

  • 25 boxes of assorted adult non-fiction books
  • 25 boxes of assorted adult fiction hardback books
  • Five boxes of adult fiction paperback books
  • 15 boxes of adult reference books
  • One box of music compact discs
  • One box of juvenile audio books
  • Two boxes of juvenile reference books
  • Three boxes of assorted magazines

Proceeds from the auction will be returned either to the drug fund if they were drug seizures or back to the city general fund.
