La Vergne Man Arrested For Hiding Cameras in Smyrna Store Bathroom

Police say the owner of Smyrna's My Southern Charm disguised the cameras as air fresheners.

SMYRNA, TN — Smyrna Police arrested the owner of a vintage shop for placing hidden cameras in his store's bathroom.

Bruce Burgess, 69, of La Vergne, was arrested November 2 and charged with photographing in violation of privacy and observation without consent. Burgess owns My Southern Charm on Gils Street in Smyrna. A customer alerted investigators after finding a hidden camera disguised as an air freshener with homemade labels reading "Airwick" and "Clean Linen" affixed.

Detectives say videos from the camera were stored on a computer. They are working to determine if more charges should be filed.
