La Vergne Police Arrest Juvenile in Shooting, Car Wreck

LA VERGNE, TN — A juvenile has been charged in the shooting that led to a car accident at a busy La Vergne intersection Monday night.

Police say two people were shot outside a tobacco outlet near the intersection of Stones River and Murfreesboro roads. One of the victims leaped into silver Dodge Charger, which sped towards the intersection and then crashed into a black Mercury. Given the crash's proximity to a fire station, La Vergne firefighters were first on the scene and discovered a gunshot victim.

Both gunshot victims were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. One, who was shot in the chest, was in critical condition.

The juvenile, who has not been named and whose age was not immediately available, was charged with aggravated assault, false report, and reckless endangerment.
