Mayor Reed Declares 'Buddy Poppy Day' in Smyrna
Boy Scouts will help VFW Post 8422 by distributing Buddy Poppies on Saturday, Nov. 5th at several Smyrna locations. Donations appreciated.
From the Town of Smyrna:
Mayor Mary Esther Reed presented a proclamation commemorating Buddy Poppy Day to VFW Post 8422 Commander Brad Saltzman and Chaplain Gilbert LaForest.
Boy Scouts will help the Post by distributing Buddy Poppies on Saturday, November 5th at several Smyrna locations. The familiar poppies are not sold, but donations will be accepted by the Scouts on behalf of disabled veterans.

VFW Buddy Poppies are assembled by disabled veterans and the proceeds from this fundraising campaign are used exclusively for the benefit of disabled and needy veterans and the widows and orphans of deceased veterans.
This annual event reflects the VFW’s desire to “Honor the Dead by Helping the Living”.
