Report: Sheriff Robert Arnold Expected to Plead Guilty Wednesday

Suspended Rutherford County Sheriff Robert Arnold will plead guilty and avoid trial.

NASHVILLE, TN — Suspended and jailed Rutherford County Sheriff Robert Arnold will plead guilty in federal court Wednesday morning, according to a report from WKRN

Arnold, currently behind bars in Pikeville, Ky., has maintained his innocence in the corruption and fraud case against him, his uncle and a former top deputy at the department. All three are charged related to their connection with JailCigs, a company which sold e-cigarettes to inmates at the county jail.

A federal trial was scheduled for February, but WKRN reports that Arnold will change his plea to guilty in a court appearance Wednesday, indicating that he has, perhaps, reached a deal with prosecutors.
