Rutherford County Unemployment Down Slightly in November

Rutherford County's 3.6 percent jobless rate is the state's third lowest.

NASHVILLE, TN — The unemployment rate in Rutherford County was 3.6 percent in November, down 0.2 percent from the October number, according to the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development.

That gives Rutherford County the third-lowest unemployment rate in the state once again, trailing just neighboring Williamson (3.4 percent) and Davidson (3.5). Of the 10 lowest county numbers, nine were in Middle Tennessee.

In the last year, the Rutherford County jobless number has dropped 0.6 percent.

The city-level rate in La Vergne was 3.6 percent and in Smyrna, it is at 3.5 percent. Both numbers are 0.4 points lower than October.

The state rate, reported last week, is 4.8 percent, unchanged from October's adjusted figure.
