Rutherford County Unemployment Rate Up Again In January
The jobless rate rose in all 95 counties in Tennessee once again in January and was up to 4.3 percent in Rutherford County.

NASHVILLE, TN — The unemployment rate in Rutherford County was 4.3 percent in January, up 0.6 percent from the December number, according to the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development. The jobless rate rose in all of Tennessee's 95 counties in January for the second month in a row.
That gives Rutherford County the third-lowest unemployment rate in the state once again, trailing just neighboring Williamson (3.9 percent) and Davidson (4.1). Of the 10 lowest county numbers, nine were in Middle Tennessee.
In the last year, the Rutherford County jobless number has jumped 0.8 percent.

The city-level rate in La Vergne was 4.3 percent and in Smyrna was 4.2 percent, a 0.5 percent rise in La Vergne and a 0.4 percent increase in Smyrna.
The state rate, reported last week, is 5.4 percent, up 0.3 percent from December's adjusted figure.
