Rutherford County Unemployment Rate Unchanged, Remains Among State's Best

September's Rutherford County unemployment rate stayed put at 4 percent, third-lowest in Tennessee.

NASHVILLE, TN — The unemployment rate in Rutherford County was 4 percent in September, unchanged from the August number, according to the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development.

That gives Rutherford County the third-lowest unemployment rate in the state once again, trailing just neighboring Williamson (3.7 percent) and Davidson (3.9), and tied with Moore. Of the 10 lowest county numbers, nine were in Middle Tennessee and seven were in counties adjacent to Davidson, plus Davidson County itself.

In the last year, the Rutherford County jobless number has dropped 0.4 percent.

The city-level rate in La Vergne was 4.2 percent, slightly higher than that in Smyrna, where it is 3.9 percent.

The state rate, reported last week, is 4.6 percent, up 0.2 percent from August's adjusted figure.
