Shots Traded Between Two Cars in La Vergne

A man was wounded in an inter-vehicle exchange of gunfire in La Vergne Tuesday afternoon.

LA VERGNE, TN — A man was wounded and traffic was snarled Tuesday afternoon after shots were exchanged between two cars.

People inside two vehicles traded shots at near the intersection of Murfreesboro Road and Nir Shreibman Boulevard Tuesday. A man was wounded in one car, which he then exited, causing the car to roll into the intersection and collide with a third vehicle that was turning on to Waldron Road.

The man was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. His condition is unknown.

Police identified as 27-year-old Joshua Simmons as the suspect. He is 5 feet 5 inches tall, 210 pounds with a star tattoo under his left eye.
