Smyrna Police Search For Robbery Suspect Wearing Fur Hat With Ear Flaps, Mid-90s Pickup-Driving Wheelman

A pair of men are suspected in two Rutherford County gas station hold-ups.

`SMYRNA, TN — A man wearing a fur-lined hat with ear flaps and his pickup-driving wheelman are wanted for two Rutherford County gas station robberies.

At 4:15 Sunday morning, a man waited until the cash register drawer opened at the Mapco on Almaville Road in Smyrna and then pulled out a small handgun and tried to grab cash from the open register. He ran out to a waiting green, mid-90s model year Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck which then sped on to Interstate 24 eastbound.

About 25 minutes later, a matching pair of suspects robbed the Exxon on Fortress Boulevard in Murfreesboro, following the same modus operandi. Again, despite the grab attempt, no money was stolen, although the ear-flap-hat-wearing man did make off with a case of beer.
