Traffic Alert: Florence Road To Be Closed To Fix Sinkhole Damage
A detour will be set up through Victoria Park, says Smyrna's Public Works Department.
SMYRNA, TN — The town of Smyrna's Public Works Department is closing down part of Florence Road this week to repair damage caused by a sinkhole, the town announced Friday
Florence Road will be closed from Lisa Lane to Cole Street from 8 a.m. Wednesday to 7 p.m. Thursday, according to a Public Works announcement. The detour will be set up through Victoria Park. There will road closed signs as well as detour signs posted.

Wednesday, Oct. 19
- 7 a.m. –Traffic control measures are in place, one lane open for traffic like a normal work day, sinkhole repair begins
- 8 a.m. – Florence Road is shut down from Lisa Lane to Cole Street, detoured through Victoria Park
- 4:30 p.m. – Last loads of rock for backfill delivered to the site
- 7 p.m. – Crews shut down for the day, site is secured

- Florence Road from Cole Street to Lisa Lane is still closed
- 6:30 a.m. – Crews onsite, check site conditions, plan for the day
- 7 a.m. – Continue work on excavation, backfill, road repair
- 7 p.m. – Repair work should be complete and road is back open
Note: If, at any time during this operation, the repair work is completed, the road will be opened back up to allow normal traffic flow.
