Van Registered In La Vergne Crashes Into White House Barricade

A woman driving a van with Rutherford County plates was arrested after crashing into a barrier outside the White House.

WASHINGTON, DC -- The Secret Service locked down the White House Friday afternoon after a van with Tennessee plates crashed into a barrier.

The minivan, bearing Rutherford County tags and registered to an address in La Vergne, struck a security barrier at 17th and E. The driver, a woman who was not identified, was taken into custody. The Secret Service said no shots were fired and no law enforcement officers were injured.

President Donald Trump was meeting with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull when the van hit the barrier around 3:30 p.m. Eastern time.
