1. 'Extraordinary' new artwork created for Memphis Art Museum (commercialappeal.com) — A major new Memphis Art Museum on the riverfront opens Dec. 6, offering free admission to all Shelby County residents and aiming to become a vibrant downtown gathering spot. New Memphis-focused commissioned artworks, a large rooftop art garden, and a centerpiece exhibit on the Hooks Brothers Studio highlight the museum's effort to celebrate local culture while drawing global attention.
   

2. Memphis area could lose nearly all Wendy's locations after bankruptcy filing (commercialappeal.com) — Many Memphis-area Wendy's, including 18 inside the city and several in nearby suburbs, could close after their franchisee filed for bankruptcy and lost its rights to the brand. The company is seeking court permission to keep paying employees and honor gift cards while Wendy's pushes to end its operations and potentially transfer locations to new operators.
   

3. State Lawmakers Balk at TDZ Control Rules (memphisflyer.com) — State lawmakers have stalled new uniform rules for Tennessee's Tourism Development Zones, leaving oversight of three Memphis TDZs—Downtown, Graceland, and Liberty Park—in limbo. The outcome could affect how Memphis closes streets, manages safety, and uses sales-tax revenue to support projects like the Memphis Sports & Events Center and surrounding developments.
   

4. Woman accused of endangering 3 children during shopping center attack (wreg.com) — Memphis police say a woman is charged after allegedly ramming another car at Frayser Village Shopping Center while three young children, including an 8-month-old baby, were in the vehicles. Witnesses described a fight that escalated into the parking lot attack, which left one woman hospitalized and has neighbors worried about safety at the busy Frayser strip mall.
   

5. Part of Union Avenue renamed for Mayor Lee Harris (actionnews5.com) — If you drive Union Avenue through the Medical District, you'll now see signs designating a stretch between Dunlap and Manassas as Mayor Lee Harris Avenue. The renaming honors Harris's years of service on Memphis City Council, in the State Senate, and as Shelby County mayor, despite a divided council vote.
