14-Year-Old Arrested For Sending Email Threats To Hillsboro High School Staff Members

The virtual student threatened to "shoot up" the school.

April 22, 2021

Specialized Investigations Division detectives this morning arrested a 14-year-old Hillsboro High School freshman (virtual student) for emailing two staff members under a false name Monday threatening to “shoot up” the school. The threats caused the school to go on lockdown.

Detectives determined that the 9th grader used his MNPS computer issued for virtual learning to send the threats. He admitted to sending the emails, but did not give a motive. No weapons were found in the student’s home.

The teen is being charged at Juvenile Court with making a false report of an emergency, which, under Tennessee law, is a felony.
