15 Metro Students Named National Merit Semifinalists

Students from Hillsboro, Hume-Fogg and Martin Luther King earn prestigious honor.

NASHVILLE, TN — Fifteen Metro Schools students from three high schools were named as National Merit Semifinalists.

Semifinalists are determined based on the score on the PSAT, which is typically taken during the sophomore or junior year. Of the 1.5 million who entered the program, 16,000 were named as semifinalists. Finalists are determined based on the student's broader academic record, school involvement, leadership activity and other honors. Finalists are announced in February.

  • Hume-Fogg Academic Magnet High School: Fabiha B. Akbar, Duncan A. Brodie, Jeremiah R. Ginder, Jonathan S. Guider, Shira Hao, Sherrina Y. Hwang, Joachim J. Kennedy, Anna Ledeczi, Trevor G. Ollis and Sabeen Rehman
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Academic Magnet High School: Sophia Chen, John R. Hartley, Cullen D. McAnally and Anna M. Reside
