17 Charged During Nashville's Independence Day Celebration

Nine juveniles and eight adults were charged with various misdemeanors during the downtown fireworks and concert July 4.

NASHVILLE, TN — Metro Police charged roughly one out of every 14,000 attendees at Nashville's Let Freedom Sing Independence Day celebration with a misdemeanor.

MNPD said it handed out 17 misdemeanor citations during Tuesday's downtown festivities, which drew an estimated 240,000 people. Nine juveniles and eight adults were charged. The juveniles were charged with weapon possession, disorderly conduct, underage alcohol consumption, evading arrest and curfew violation.

The adults were charged with offenses including public intoxication and disorderly conduct. In addition, Samuel Dobbs, 20, was cited for reckless endangerment for flying a drone at 9:55 p.m. over the large crowd in the First Avenue/Gay Street area. He was charged after landing the drone within the crowd.
