17-Year-Old Charged With Criminal Homicide In Fatal Shooting Of Fellow Teen In Nashville

Detectives this morning charged Eric Ishimwe, 17, with criminal homicide for Wednesday evening’s fatal shooting of Kevin Niyibizi, 16, inside the Ishimwe family home in the 3900 block of Rock Creek Drive.

South Precinct officers responded to a shooting call at the residence just after 5 p.m. and found Niyibizi deceased from a gunshot wound to his chest.

Ishimwe told lead Detective Chris Dickerson that he and Niyibizi were both handling and playing with a gun that Niyibizi brought into the home when he pulled the trigger with the pistol pointed at Niyibizi. It fired, fatally wounding the 16-year-old.
