18-Year-Old Charged In Bud's Market Murder

NASHVILLE, TN — Metro Police arrested an 18-year-old in the shooting death of a man outside a North Nashville market late last month.

Michael Newsom, 18, is charged in the shooting death of Steven Murray, 48, outside Bud’s Market on Buchanan Street July 30. Murray was shot in the head while backing out of a parking spot.

Investigators say Murray exited the market with another man, who got into an adjacent vehicle. Murray was then shot by someone inside that car, who detectives identified as Newsom. The motive is unclear.

Newsom is charged with criminal homicide and is being held on a $350,000 bond.
