18-Year-Old Charged In Centennial Park Carjacking
An 18-year-old already charged with a South Nashville carjacking and chase stands accused of carjacking an elderly man in Centennial Park.

NASHVILLE, TN — An 18-year-old man arrested in a Friday night carjacking and crosstown joyride has been charged with another carjacking earlier that day.
Metro Police say Dashawn Lytle walked up to an elderly man sitting in his car at Centennial Park, pulled a gun and demanded the man get out of the car. Lytle then allegedly punched and robbed the man. Lytle got in the car, but got out himself after he saw his alleged victim approach a bystander for help.

Police say Lytle pointed his gun at the helpful parkgoer, who then pulled out a gun of his own, firing a round and causing Lytle to flee.
Lytle and two other people were arrested early Saturday morning in connection to a carjacking in South Nashville, during which the victim was forced into his own trunk before escaping to call police. The trio of alleged carjackers then led police on a circuitous chase across the city before crashing near Hermitage Avenue.

After the crash, Lytle was taken to the hospital with an apparently unrelated gunshot wound to his buttocks. When he was arrested for the second carjacking — he was wearing the victim's watch, police said — he was found with the bank card of the elderly man from Centennial Park, according to investigators.
Lytle faces charges of aggravated robbery, attempted aggravated kidnapping, evading arrest, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and driving without a license.
