18-Year-Old Killed In Two-Car Crash On Andrew Jackson Parkway In Hermitage

The victim has been identified as Leander Collier IV.

This afternoon’s two-car crash involving a Nissan Versa and a Kia Spectra on Andrew Jackson Parkway at Tyler Drive in Hermitage claimed the life of Leander Collier IV, 18, a passenger in the Nissan.

The investigation shows that the Nissan was traveling south on Andrew Jackson Parkway at a high rate of speed and was in the center turn lane when the Kia attempted to turn left from Tyler Drive onto Andrew Jackson Parkway. The Nissan struck the Kia in the driver’s side.

Collier was not wearing a seatbelt and died shortly after arriving at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The driver of the Nissan, Mevelyn Wyatt, 21, also was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Kia, Jacquelann Baker, 18, and her passenger, Alanna Sexton, also 18, were wearing seatbelts. Their injures are not life-threatening.

The preliminary contributing factors to this fatal crash are speeding and improper passing on the part of Wyatt. The completed investigation will be staffed with the District Attorney’s Office for a determination on any charges.
