19-Year-Old Road Rage Suspect Jailed For Allegedly Shooting At A Nashville Family
Tyler Al-Shemari is also charged in connection with a separate armed robbery.

An extreme case of road rage and a separate armed robbery, both involving a pistol stolen during a vehicle burglary.

Those criminal acts and diligent police work are responsible for Tyler Al-Shemari, 19, being jailed tonight.
The road rage incident occurred at 6:50 a.m. on Harding Place near Jonquil Drive when Al-Shemari, driving a Toyota Yaris, cut off a pickup truck being driven by a 36-year-old Portland, Tennessee man, causing him to slam on his brakes. In the truck with him were his 35-year-old wife and their 17-year-old son. Al-Shemari pulled into the Wal-Mart parking lot at 4040 Nolensville Pike and the family in the pick-up truck followed to confront him. The victims said Al-Shemari pointed a pistol in their direction, causing them to drive out of the lot. Al-Shemari followed the family onto Nolensville Pike, pulled alongside the pickup truck and fired multiple shots (see the video linked below that was recorded by an uninvolved motorist). One of the victims received a minor hand wound as a result of the gunfire. Al-Shemari made a U-turn and fled.

About an hour later, a 42-year-old resident of Legate Court in South Nashville saw a suspicious stranger (Al-Shemari) who appeared to be breaking into his neighbor’s car. Al-Shemari approached the 42-year-old, pointed a pistol at him and demanded his money, phone and wallet. He fired a shot into the air in the process. Using GPS information from the victim’s phone, officers were able to track the Toyota Yaris to Linbar Drive where it was parked outside Klean Kuts Barber Shop. Al-Shemari came out of the business with the imprint of the pistol visible in his jacket pocket. He was detained and disarmed by officers.
A check of the Glock .40-caliber pistol Al-Shemari was carrying showed that it was stolen during a February 19th vehicle burglary on Benzing Road.
Al-Shemari is presently being held in lieu of $145,000 bond on charges of aggravated robbery, vehicle burglary and three counts of aggravated assault. He is under investigation in regard to other crimes in the South Nashville area in recent weeks.
