Memphis teens charged for car burglaries in Nashville (wkrn.com) — Five teenagers from Memphis are jailed on felony charges after Metro police say they broke into a vehicle in West Nashville while driving a stolen Kia. Arrested with help from an MNPD helicopter, they now face burglary, theft, and tools charges, with one suspect also wanted in Memphis and more Nashville charges expected as the investigation continues.
2. Caudle Veterinary Clinic closes after dog's death report as new questions emerge about doctor's license (newschannel5.com) — A longtime East Nashville veterinary clinic has abruptly closed after a dog died following surgery and questions surfaced about whether the vet performing procedures held a valid Tennessee license. Another pet owner has now come forward describing troubling post-surgery complications for her senior dog and concerns that an unlicensed practitioner may have handled his care, while boarded animals reportedly remain inside the shuttered facility.
3. Delivery truck driver intentionally crashes into Aldi grocery store in East Nashville (newschannel5.com) — Shoppers in East Nashville are dealing with major disruption after a delivery driver allegedly rammed his tractor-trailer into the front of the Aldi on Gallatin Avenue, causing more than $250,000 in damage. Police say the 34-year-old driver admitted he crashed on purpose, was arrested on a felony vandalism charge, and showed no signs of impairment or suicidal intent.
4. Nashville Lawmaker Proposes Pause on Data Center Tax Exemptions (tntribune.com) — State Rep. Aftyn Behn wants a three-year pause on Tennessee's tax exemptions for data centers, a move that could significantly affect 25 facilities in Nashville. Her push comes as Davidson County residents fight a proposed data center next to the Nashville Zoo and Metro Council has already used eminent domain to block one project, citing costs, transparency, and neighborhood impacts.
5. A walk through the new Centennial Park (tnledger.com) — You can now explore both the historic and newly revamped sides of Centennial Park on an easy one-mile loop starting at the Parthenon. Along the way, you'll pass Lake Watauga, the Taylor Swift and Dolly Parton benches, the new Croquet Cafe and event pavilion, and can tap into free audio tours from Nashville Sites and the Parthenon for deeper history.
