Today's riddle: Do you know what the two sides of a circle are? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. 16-year-old killed in North Nashville apartment complex shooting (wsmv.com) — A 16-year-old boy was fatally shot Tuesday evening at the Preserve at Highland Ridge Apartments in North Nashville, and police are still searching for whoever opened fire. Neighbors describe diving for cover, calling for more security cameras and gates, and rallying around the teen's grieving family. Anyone with information is urged to contact Nashville Crime Stoppers anonymously.
2. Former teacher to Nashville school district: Stop managing your reputation and start protecting our kids (wsmv.com) — Metro Nashville school leaders are defending how grades are changed and how credit recovery works after former educators alleged widespread grade manipulation to boost graduation rates. A former teacher and counselor urged the school board to prioritize student protection and accountability, while administrators insisted changes follow policy and state rules. The issue could affect how your child's grades and diploma are earned.
3. Widespread rain with some soaking downpours on the way to Middle Tennessee, at last (wsmv.com) — Expect a much-needed soaking in Nashville next week as a new cold front brings widespread showers and storms, potentially dropping up to an inch of rain. After a hot, mostly dry September at Nashville International Airport, this system should finally help replenish parched ground and break the recent dry streak across Middle Tennessee.
4. Parents weigh in on new Waymo teen account (newschannel5.com) — Nashville families can now sign teens up for Waymo's new driverless ride accounts, making the city one of only two test markets. Parents and teens share mixed feelings about safety, traffic navigation, and whether a human or no driver is safer, but many see potential to ease hectic schedules. Teens ages 13–17 must be added in-app with parental permission.
5. Greta Van Fleet Announces Three-Show Nashville Residency at The Basement East (nashville.com) — Greta Van Fleet is bringing a three-night, all-ages residency to East Nashville's Basement East this October, with tickets set at just $20 including fees. Shows on October 3, 10, and 17 offer a rare intimate setting ahead of the band's new album release. Tickets go on sale online Friday, September 25, with strict two-ticket limits and Will Call pickup.
