Banner-Hauling Plane Forced Into Interstate Landing
A plane hauling a banner for CMA Fest had to make a landing adjacent a busy stretch of interstate.

NASHVILLE, TN — A small plane pulling an advertising banner for the CMA Fest was forced to make a landing on the side of the interstate Saturday afternoon.
Around 2:30 Saturday afternoon, the plane landed — relatively safely considering the circumstances — adjacent to Interstate 40 near the Jefferson Street exit and the I-65 merge. The pilot was not injured. (For more updates on this story and free news alerts for your neighborhood, sign up for your local Middle Tennessee Patch morning newsletter.)
The plane was carrying a promotional banner advertising a meet and greet with Lady Antebellum. The pilot ditched the banner once he realized he was going to have to put down. The pilot told WKRN his plane experienced cylinder failure.
