Please join the Brentwood Photography Group at on Tuesday, June 2 for a special presentation by local photographer Sam Simpkins on life as a photographer on a university campus. We will meet at 6:30 p.m. at then Otter Creek Church, 409 Franklin Road in Brentwood. Come early to enjoy fellowship before the presentation.
Nashville native, Sam Simpkins began his love of photography at Hillsboro High School in Green Hills. After getting an undergraduate degree from Montreat College in North Carolina, Simpkins traveled to Alaska and Colorado before going to Western Kentucky University for another undergraduate degree in photojournalism.
He got a job with the Tennessean in the young reader magazine, All the Rage, in 2004. After a couple years, Simpkins moved into the role as a staff photographer at the Tennessean, covering general news. In all, he spent 12 years at the Tennessean before getting his current job at Belmont University in August of 2016.
He will talk about the life of a photographer on a university campus, including:
• Day to day life at Belmont - the warm nature of the community,
• Backstage if you will on campus - things like Locker room shots after big wins,
• College kids and all the moments that happen on campus,
• The Beauty of Belmont - the people and the actual campus.
