California Man Shot, Killed in Downtown Nashville

Metro Police are looking for men who were driving a silver Chevrolet Impala in the late night shooting on Demonbreun.

NASHVILLE, TN — A 30-year-old California man was killed late Sunday in a shooting downtown.

Teddy Grasset, 30, and Larry Niehues, 28, both of Los Angeles, were walking on Fourth Avenue South near Demonbreun Street and Korean Veterans Boulevard just before midnight, police say. A grey or silver Chevrolet Impala with three people inside slowed to a stop next to them.

Two people then got out of the Impala and walked towards the Californians who, scared, ran away separately: Niehues towards Korean Veterans Boulevard and Grasset towards Demonbreun.

The suspects, who were apparently trying to rob the men, according to police, then fled.

According to police Niehues and Grasset had been on Broadway and were waiting for a pickup from Uber or Lyft to take them back to their Murfreesboro Road hotel.

There was no description of the suspects themselves immediately available, but police are looking for a late model grey or silver Impala with a sunroof and spoiler.
