Citizen's Tip Leads To Arrest Of A Convicted Burglar In Nashville

Thanks to a concerned citizen, convicted burglar William D. Sharp, 39, was taken into custody today after officers located him inside HiFi Clyde’s restaurant/bar at 1700 Church Street.

Just before 10 a.m., a citizen reported that the front window of the business had been broken out. Responding officers saw Sharp inside, along with blood on the front door and throughout the business. Sharp refused multiple commands to exit the building. Canine Officer Dustin Chester and his partner Riggs responded. Sharp began fighting and striking Riggs. After a brief struggle, Sharp was taken into custody. Officers located a large bin behind the bar that Sharp had apparently been filling with various bottles of alcohol.

Sharp refused to speak with detectives. He was transported to General Hospital for treatment of non-serious cuts/injuries sustained from the break-in. Upon his release, Sharp will be charged with burglary and resisting arrest. He will also be charged for a March 31st incident in which he is accused of taking wine and beer from Dollar General Express on 3rd Avenue South in downtown Nashville.

Sharp, who is homeless, has a lengthy arrest history which includes convictions for theft, drug possession, public intoxication, and criminal trespassing.
