Driver Dies In Charlotte Pike Multi-Car Crash
Police are investigating what caused a fatal four-car crash in West Nashville Friday.

NASHVILLE, TN — A 45-year-old man died in a four-car crash on Charlotte Pike near Interstate 40 Friday afternoon.
David Black, 45, died in the wreck which involved a Cumberland Oil tanker truck, a Ford Econoline van, and two cars. (For more updates on this story and free news alerts for your neighborhood, sign up for your local Middle Tennessee Patch morning newsletter.)
Around 12:50 p.m., the tanker was stopped at the red light in the turn lane in front of two other vehicles. Black, in the van, veered into the turn lane, sideswiping both cars on the passenger side and then rear-ending the tanker. Black was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured.

Investigators, who had to close Charlotte Pike for several hours, said there was no indication of drugs or alcohol. They are still working to determine exactly what caused Black to veer, though wet streets may have factored in.
