Fatal Crash On I-24 Claims Life Of Nashville Man

The man killed in the midnight car-tractor-trailer collision on I-24 East near Murfreesboro Pike is identified as James Goins Jr., 45, of Nashville.

The preliminary investigation shows that the driver of the tractor-trailer, Steven Wellman, 57, had slowed for construction work on the interstate when he was struck from behind by Goins who was driving a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta. Goins, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene.

There was no evidence of impairment on behalf of either driver.
