East Precinct officers responded to a shooting call on the evening of Friday, April 3rd, in the 600 block of S. 6th Street. The 17-year-old had run to that location and had received assistance from a passerby. At the time, the teenager would not tell officers who shot him or what led up to it. However, during a subsequent interview with Youth Services Detective Chris Bowden, he acknowledged that the shooting occurred as the result of a physical fight with his father. The teen said he was fleeing when Begley opened fire.

Begley has had several felony cocaine convictions over the years, including one in 2016 for which he received an eight-year probated sentence. He was booked into the Metro Jail Wednesday evening and has been released on a $35,000 bond.
