Following Jeff Sessions' Request, Nashville's U.S. Attorney To Resign

Obama appointee David Rivera will resign his position as U.S. Attorney for Middle Tennessee following a request by AG Jeff Sessions.

NASHVILLE, TN — David Rivera, the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee, will resign his position at some unknown point in the future, following a request by Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Sessions asked for the resignations of 46 of the 93 U.S. Attorneys who were appointed by President Barack Obama. After 20 years as a federal prosecutor, Rivera became the U.S. Attorney for 32 Middle Tennessee counties in April 2013.

A spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney's office in Nashville confirmed to Fox 17 that Rivera would submit his resignation but offered no timetable for him to do so.
