Google Express Now Available in Tennessee

The tech giant's two-day, online delivery service will compete with Amazon Prime.

Google is going after Amazon with its own online-delivery product, Google Express. And, as of Tuesday, that service is available in Nashville and most of Tennessee.

The expansion was part of a multi-state rollout for Google Express, which had only been available in parts of the northeastern United States previously.

On Tuesday, the Google Express service was introduced in Alabama, Kentucky, Utah, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Wyoming, and Washington.

Google Express offers two-day delivery shopping at stores like Costco, Whole Foods Market, PetSmart, Kohl's and more.

"Our goal with Google Express is to offer a great shopping experience and connect people with their favorite stores," said Brian Elliott, general manager of Google Express, in a news release. "Today, we're very excited to be expanding our efforts — making it easy for millions ... to get things they need from stores they love, delivered fast."

In all, about 70 million people gained access to the service in Tuesday's expansion, Google said.

It works one of two ways: Google Express users may either purchase a membership, for $95 a year, or pay a fee — starting at $4.99 — along with each order.
