Hurricane Matthew May Give Tennessee Titans Extra Home Game

The Titans are scheduled to play in Miami Sunday, but coach Mike Mularkey has been told the game may be moved.

NASHVILLE, TN — The Tennessee Titans may get an extra opportunity to get back to winning at home, where the team hasn't beaten a team other than the Jacksonville Jaguars since December 29, 2013.

Hurricane Matthew is barreling towards Florida and the Titans are scheduled to play the Miami Dolphins in south Florida Sunday afternoon. Landfall is expected in Florida some time Thursday.

The NFL told Titans coach Mike Mularkey to prepare for a number of contingencies for the game, including playing it in Nashville.

Technically, the game would be a Dolphins home game and a win wouldn't exactly break the Titans' home duck, but as Mularkey told The Tennessean, "[I]f we got an extra home game, that wouldn’t hurt either.”

It's not likely the NFL would make a decision on the game until Hurricane Matthew clears the area and travel impacts are clear.
