Infamous Nashville Nightspot Club Kilimanjaro Demolished
After being padlocked under court order in February, Club Kilimanjaro found the business end of a wrecking ball Thursday.
NASHVILLE, TN — Less than four months after it was padlocked and shut down under court order as a public nuisance, Nashville's infamous Club Kilimanjaro was demolished Thursday.
Criminal Court Judge Steve Dozier issued a padlock order in February after Metro Police said the club near Trinity Lane was a haven for violent crime, serving alcohol illegally, hosting strip shows and serving as a meeting place for gangs. In February, Metro Police said officers had been called more than 100 times to the club in four years, including three murders. During a sting, an underage police operative was able to purchase not only a beer, but also marijuana, from the bar.

Investigators said the club was a den for gang activity, with members of the Crips, Bloods and BG/BGD all spotted there. In addition, the club served as the location for a recent statewide meeting of the Gangster Disciples. Nearby business owners have complained repeatedly that the club drew "unruly patrons, drunks and violent criminals," according to police.
